About Our Organization
The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
For centuries, men and women, young and old, suffered from the devastating effects of arthritis. Today the Arthritis Foundation is the nation’s leader in assisting the 46 million Americans with doctor-diagnosed arthritis to take greater control of arthritis by leading efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases.
The Arthritis Foundation continues to move forward by reaching out to the millions of men, women and children with arthritis. Through the efforts of more than 600,000 volunteers across the country, the Arthritis Foundation provides community-based public health initiatives, advocates for changes in public policy and funds a nationwide arthritis research program.
Together, volunteers and staff have allowed the Foundation to provide services to people with arthritis and their families that help offset the physical and emotional impact of the disease, as well as to provide more than $350 million to arthritis research since 1948.
The Arthritis Foundation has 46 chapters that serve all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A chapter may cover a city, an area within a state, an entire state or more. Many Chapters have established branches, giving the Foundation more than 150 service points throughout the United States.
